Commemorated on August 29

According to tradition, on August 29, 1490 the Virgin Mary appeared to a peasant called Benedetto Pareto and asked him to build a chapel on the mountain. Pareto was surprised and replied that he was only a poor man and would not be able to do that. But the Virgin Mary exhorted him by saying “Do not be afraid!”
Nevertheless, Pareto went home and did not speak with anyone about the apparition. A few days later he felt from a tree and was seriously injured. The Virgin Mary appeared to him again and he was miraculously healed. The event convinced him to speak about the apparition and seek help to build the chapel.

But the Blessed Virgin comforted him, saying softly: "Do not be afraid, Benedict, I'm Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ," and he added, pointing with his hand to the point:
"I want you there I fabricate a chapel."
"Madam, replied the Pareto, I am ready to do all that I commanded, but they are so poor, and for the manufacture of this mountain and high desert need to be spending so much effort and so much that I despair of being able". "Benedict replied Mary, do not be afraid, with my help you will easily everything. "
"Well, concluded the Pareto trusted in You, O my Lady, I will work hand-controlled. And the virgin rising into the sky, from the looks of Benedict vanished, leaving him full in the soul of heavenly consolation, so, I forget now the food, and just eager to let everyone know about the heavenly vision, he ran hastily down from the mountain to his home. "
"But his wife on hearing of the apparition told by her husband, from disbelief scoffed. Benedict And these taunts he was so depressed that perhaps entirely stopped thinking of executing the order of Maria SS. Received., But were soon to regret He and his partner.
"The day following Benedict, in going to work, rises above a fig tree for isdigiunarsi. And the poor man thought to prepare themselves with acts of religion, the last step; complaining of not having obeyed to the queen of heaven, and in the fall to recognize the punishment to his disobedience " .
